Volkswagen AG is strengthening the role of Audi in the group. To this end, the brand of Ingolstad – headed by ceo Markus Duesmann – will take the lead in the research and development of the Alliance. The premium brand will also be the point system for the Car-software of the VW group.

In reference to the start of the new electrical platform (EPP), Ingolstadt was to become the organizational focus of the new group units, the in-Car software. The company of recent constitution centralises the activities of software development in various locations of the VW group. The goal is to increase the share of internal software development to drive to at least 60% by 2025.

In the context of the re-assignment of powers and responsibilities, VW AG is planning an operation – according to the German law on the Spa – that would raise its stake in Volkswagen from the current 99,64% to 100%. This operation should be completed with a resolution to the annual general meeting of Audi AG this year, which should take place in July or August.
