BOLOGNA Ducati electric? Could be a hypothesis that is anything but farfetched. Especially if it’s a Rupert Stadler, of Audi, the German group that from 2012 check out the house of Borgo Panigale. The theatre of the announcement was the unveiling of the new A8 in Valencia, where the manager wanted to tell her on the house of the Red species after that for months they pursued rumors of a possible sale from Volkswagen, and then cancelled. Stadler has said that the control of Audi on Ducati “will remain stable” and that “in the next few years will also be made investments to grow the company.” Also because of Bologna “have made in these years, a very professional job and the group evaluates positively the results achieved”.
Stadler, however, he added that the currency “very good” the portfolio of products Ducati in the next two years, but also of having seen and appreciated the concept of motion, electric traction, without even exclude the possibility, in the future, a maxi-scooter to the Ducati brand. “If there will be – joked – certainly will lead you to the first, and then I’ll be able to give my feedback on the fact that it is a real Ducati”. When the Ducati’s power, then? From Bologna advised caution, pointing out that a concept is very different from a real project, which unlike the first is ready for production. And especially in the five-year plan with the new models of the Ducati, that goes up to 2021, inclusive, there is no trace of the electric motorcycle. But it is clear, however, that Borgo Panigale engineers have started to study the theme.
The rest a few months ago was the same Claudio Domenicali, ceo of Ducati, to suggest the interest. “We won’t see a Ducati electricity until at least 2020,” said the manager of the bolognese march, highlighting the problems that hamper the landing of the electric motors on the two wheels, as the weight of the batteries and their autonomy. “But we are developing a plan of innovative new products that will take account of the macro global trends,” he continued. © Reproduction reserved
