Consultant at RMC, Jérôme Rothen had given his opinion on the level of the CAN which he considered “catastrophic”, which was not at all appreciated by the new Ivorian coach. After his team’s coronation at home against Nigeria (2-1), Emerse Faé took the opportunity to settle scores with the former PSG player.
“I heard that there is a pseudo journalist in France, who has never played an international match in his life, who would have said that the level of the CAN was catastrophic because there was neither technique, nor tactics. I don’t think he understands anything about football. When we look at the international career he has had… I am not surprised,” declared the new coach of the Elephants.
“I let him speak, he got noticed, he made himself interesting. It was an extraordinary CAN, with twists and turns, goals, spectacle. It was very dishonest to say that this CAN was not of quality,” he added.
Rothen was quick to respond to these statements on his social networks by also discussing Faé’s career. “You could have mentioned my name! You’ve seen him on the field more than once (in addition to all the jerseys I gave you). I promise, I won’t talk about your career and your 0 titles won.” he replied.
