Argentinian Lionel Messi and Spaniard Sergio Busquets, the recent star signings of Inter Miami (MLS), could make their debut on Friday against the Mexican team Cruz Azul, the coach of the North American franchise said on Wednesday.

“I don’t rule out throwing them into the bath” during this tournament bringing together American and Mexican teams, Argentine technician Gerardo Tata Martino told his country’s sports channel TyC. “There’s one training session left and we’ll talk to them to see how they feel and then we’ll decide.”

“We can expect to see them on Friday but I don’t want to rush,” he added.

The two former Barça teammates have just signed until 2025 with the MLS club and the seven-time Ballon d’Or was even presented to Miami on Sunday with great fanfare.

Inter Miami has been struggling for several seasons in MLS, where its results are disappointing. He thus remains on 11 games without a win and recorded his 14th defeat in 22 outings this season on Saturday.
