At 40 and after having worn the jerseys of a dozen different clubs, Ludovic Butelle will play next year in Reims, a club in his hometown, the Champagne club announced on Thursday.

Butelle has mainly evolved in France (Metz, Nîmes, Lille, Arles-Avignon, Angers then the Red Star, where he had a good season last week in National) and in Spain (Valence, Hercules, Valladolid), and was Belgian champion in 2016 with Club Brugge. Born in Reims in 1983, he has never worn the tunic of his hometown.

Between Metz, Lille and Angers, he played 141 Ligue 1 matches. In Reims, he should occupy a role of “supervisor” of the goalkeepers, bringing his experience to the young goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf, the holder of the post, 23 years old.

Nicolas Penneteau, who has just ended his career in Reims in a similar role, has not played a match in two years in the Marne.
