In the absence of a great spectacle on the road, the Tour of Spain offers itself a new episode in the unusual section. This Thursday at the finish of the 18th stage won by Remco Evenepoel, in La Cruz de Linares, a member of the Jumbo-Visma staff experienced a mishap with the local police.
Then alongside Jonas Vingegaard, 2nd in the general classification behind Sepp Kuss, the assistant of the Dutch team was taken to the ground by three police officers after pushing away one of the agents who allegedly pushed the Danish rider. The latter, surprised by the scene, preferred not to intervene just like Primoz Roglic, who passed by with ignorance. After a few minutes of tension, the man was finally relieved and then quickly released according to the media on site.
This lunar situation is not the first on the 2023 Vuelta. During the 11th stage won by Jesus Herrada, Raul, Spanish assistant at Cofidis, was also tackled to the ground by security just after his rider’s victory.
This Friday, the peloton will meet in Iscar at the end of a flat stage of 177.5 kilometers, two days before the arrival in Madrid.
