France record holder Alice Finot qualified for the final of the 3000m steeplechase at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Wednesday. Finot, 4th in his series in 9 min 20 sec 27, will play the final on Sunday, after having already participated in 2022 in Eugene (Oregon, United States), for a 10th place. She also passed the Olympic minima (9:23.00), making herself eligible for the Paris Games next year.
“Halfway through the race I looked up to see if we were detached, indeed we had left (in) a group of five, so I managed the effort, I had no interest in doing a final sprint . Then I realized that I was on the basics of the Olympic minima, so I didn’t slow down so much. I succeeded in both, I’m super happy,” she commented. Flavie Renouard, on the other hand, stops in the series, after her 9th place (9:39.91).
In the hammer throw, Rose Loga and Alexandra Tavernier were eliminated in qualifying with best throws at 67.95m and 70.19m. Cyréna Samba-Mayela, world champion in the 60m indoor hurdles in 2021, was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 100m hurdles with a time of 12 sec 95 (-0.7 m/s wind).
