Alhambra Venture 2022’s first day continued in the afternoon. After Pedro Carrillo had analyzed the role of corporates within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, it was time for Pedro Carrillo to take an X-ray on “Spain as destination for innovation, development”.

Rosa Siles, director of Andalucia Emprende moderated the table. Angel Nino (councilor of Madrid City Council) was present as a delegate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Area. Joaquin Gomez Gomez Gomez, director of Instituto de Fomento de Region Murcia, and Joaquin Gomez Gomez Gomez, director of Conexo Ventures, shared his vision as cofounder general partner.

The colloquium focused on the problems facing Spain in order to become an innovation destination. Although Spain is an attractive destination for innovation, the speakers all agreed that there is still much to be done.

Angel Nino stated, “We must be able to specializing ecosystems so that anyone, regardless of where they are located, chooses Spain and Madrid as the place for them to do business.” “Right now, we have a huge problem with scaleups. If we want the unicorns to stay in Spain, we need a tax system which invites them to stay.”

Gomez Gomez stated, “We are committed in generating facilities to entrepreneurship. And behind all of this, the most important factor is jobs.”

“We still have a lot to do, but we can’t afford to let this happen. Artiach Basterra highlighted that American funds already co-invest in Spanish projects in this way.

Nino stressed the importance of “public–private collaboration” in his speech. He also highlighted that “if anything has distinguished Spain, it’s our creativity to overcome any obstacles.”

Antonio Cabello, for his part, stressed that there is not enough entrepreneurial culture at the beginning stages. The ecosystem must be promoted through multiple entities, and have to function like a pineapple with a high efficiency rate.

The most important thing is that this understanding must be passed from the employer to the administration. We must learn from the local administrations not to enter into competition but to collaborate towards the national goals>>.

This table shows the potential of Spain, a country that is open to innovation and technology development. The necessary tools are already listed on the table for entrepreneurs.
