Lanjatrans’ logistics center hosted the presentation for the IX Subida al Cerro de los Canones. This event was framed in the Andalusian Mountains Championship of the Andalusian Federated Automobiles.
The president of CD Cerro de los Canones Matias Verdejo was present at the presentation ceremony, as well the mayor of Lanjaron; Juan Manuel Jimenez, the Councilor for Sports; Manuel Alonso (president of the Andalusian Automobile Federation) and Antonio Mingorance, manager of Lanjatrans which hosted the event.
Antonio Mingorance, Lanjatrans representative, stated that it was a pleasure for his company to sponsor events that put Lanjaron in the spotlight and that we would be happy to work with any event that attracts tourists, such as this one.
Matias Verdejo was the president of the team. He stressed that the Climb to Cerro de los Canones was in good health considering the number of entries. The poster shows that we continue to grow and consolidate year after year. He stated that we initially planned to limit the edition to eighty vehicles. But, demand has forced us into expanding to ninety-five.
Verdejo acknowledged that there are three types of asphalt available and that each grip is different. This makes it a more attractive challenge for pilots who know how the driving modes work. This weekend, we ask that the public respect safety regulations.
Eric Escobedo (the mayor of Lanjaron) stressed that this weekend the town would be “the nerve centre of Andalusia and sports and motoring so there are reasons for happiness.”
The route of the IX Ascent to Cerro de los Canones is unchanged. It will begin on the Motril road, which is a relatively untraveled route with limited traffic. There are approximately 4 km of route, with 3 different types of asphalt.
The first section runs from El Pinar to Venta de las Angustias. This is a well-maintained, but not very used road. You will find the Tablate intersection, where you can take the Alpujarra road. The second section is much less traveled.
This area has a perfect asphalt and is free from dust. It will change the way drivers drive within a matter of meters. These two spectacular hairpins offer a change in asphalt at the equator.
