The new Groupe Renault brand presents its first vehicle, a 100% electric sedan for professional drivers offered through an all-inclusive subscription
The Mobilize Limo has already arrived in Spain, the first car that, no matter how much you like it and want it with all your might, you will never be able to buy or drive it, unless you are a taxi driver or a VTC driver.
The Limo is the first model of a new brand, belonging to the Renault Group and dedicated to new forms of mobility, which will market its vehicles through the all-inclusive subscription formula. We insist: it cannot be purchased as a property, not even at the end of its life cycle, which Mobilize estimates at about six years or 300,000 kilometers, coinciding with the vehicle’s warranty period.
Mobiliza makes the Limo available to freelancers and people transport professionals through Mobilize Driver Solutions, a service that, in exchange for a monthly fee, offers the use of the vehicle for the duration of the contract (minimum of three months), service priority maintenance, warranty, insurance, assistance and recharging.
In fact, Cabify is Mobilize’s first client worldwide and will operate the first Mobilize Limo units in Madrid. The Spanish chauffeur-driven transport company has added 40 Limo vehicles to the fleet of Vecttor, a subsidiary of the Cabify Group, in Madrid. Neither Mobilize nor Cabify have revealed details about the cost of the contract, although according to their own estimates it could exceed 1,000 euros per month per vehicle.
We have been lucky enough to test the Mobilize Limo during the international presentation of Mobilize Driver Solutions in Madrid. Unlike most of the 100% electric models that are hitting the market lately, the Limo is not an SUV, but rather a saloon with a sedan silhouette, quite large (almost 5 meters long) and with a lot of space in the rear for make passengers feel comfortable.
It has a very elegant and dynamic design, like many four-door saloons, and is characterized by its short bonnet and sloping roof, almost like that of a coupé. Inside it is also quite elegant and very technological, especially in the driving position, with a 10.25-inch digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch touch screen in the center of the dashboard for the infotainment system.
In the back row there is enough space for three people to travel comfortably, although the high ground height is striking (the batteries are under the floor), which forces you to travel with your knees very high compared to the seat, something common in electric vehicles. Also, there is no transmission tunnel, which is always torture for the center passenger, and the floor in the rear row is completely flat. The trunk is also very generous and has a cargo volume of 500 litres.
It is driven by a 118 kW electric motor that offers an output of 160 hp and a maximum torque of 225 Nm. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 140 km/h. In terms of autonomy, it can travel 450 km on a single charge in the WLTP combined cycle, although in urban use it can easily exceed 500 km.
The Mobilize Limo approves a fairly contained consumption of 16.2 kWh per 100 kilometers (it is the advantage of being a sedan and not an SUV), and the truth is that our test unit marked a consumption of 16.3 kWh/100 km at the end of the route between Alcobendas and Collado Villalba (round trip). In addition to careful aerodynamics, the total weight of just 1,610 kg and the use of a heat pump for thermal comfort in the cabin contribute to the Mobilize Limo’s good energy efficiency.
When it comes to driving impressions, the Limo is easy to drive, comfortable for passengers and well soundproofed. Adding to the traditional poise of sedans is the weight of the batteries under the floor, helping to further lower the center of gravity and minimize any body roll. Through the multifunction steering wheel you can select three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) and three intensity levels of regenerative braking. In addition, the turning diameter of 11.2 m guarantees appreciable maneuverability for this saloon of 4.67 meters long and 1.83 meters wide.
With the ‘My Mobilize Limo’ App you can open and close the doors with your mobile phone, open and close the windows (aeration mode), turn the position lights on or off, program the preconditioning of the thermal heating of the passenger compartment or access Relevant information such as remaining range, total mileage, battery charge level or tire pressure. In addition, alerts can be received on the smartphone when charging is complete or if maintenance is required.
To easily recharge the Mobilize Limo there is the ‘Mobilize Power Solutions’ application, which allows you to register a payment solution for charging with the ‘Mobilize Business Pass’, locate a charging point among more than 250,000 charging points in Europe and view the characteristics of each post (charging power, type of connector and availability). In addition, with this App you can obtain GPS planning to easily reach the recharging point, discover the rates and payment methods that are accepted and check the charging consumption.
