According to the local sheriff’s, the instructor was injured when the parachute did not open during the jump.
It took place in Waller County, northwest Houston, at noon Saturday.
According to the instructor’s company, both the male client and instructor were flown to Houston by Skydive Houston.
According to the company, the instructor died on Sunday. The student had suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
KHOU was told by a witness living nearby that the first parachute did not open and so the skydivers had to cut it off. The second chute, which opened halfway, was also available.
Witnesses claimed that one of the skydivers was aware when they landed, while the other wasn’t.
While the incident is being investigated, the company has stopped jumping while it investigates and the Federal Aviation Administration was notified.
