“I’m in,” Giuliani told Fox News Tuesday, confirming he’s launching a bid to take on New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2022.
“New York deserves a leader who will fight to make it the best state in America once again,” Giuliani said. “If New Yorkers choose to select me , I will bring New York back from the precipice of ruin to the shining STATE about the mountain once again!”
He added:”I think it will be the fight of the century.”
Giuliani told The New York Post Tuesday that he is”a politician out of the womb,” referring to being the son of the former mayor of new york.
“It’s in my DNA,” he explained.
New York voters may remember Andrew Giuliani’s unforgettable look as a young kid at his father’s inauguration — where he increased his own hand throughout the oath of office — which led to him being played with Chris Farley on Saturday Night Live.
Giuliani served as associate director in the White House Office of Public Liaison through the Trump administration, also told Fox News he was”proud” of the years he spent working for former President Donald Trump.
“I am proud of our 25-year friendship. I am certainly proud of each of the accomplishments we were able to accomplish together in the Trump White House,” Giuliani told Fox News. “So I will never run away from that.”
“So whether New Yorkers want to phone me a Trump candidate, or even a Giuliani candidate, all I can tell you is I am Andrew Giuliani,” he explained.
He added:”So I believe that’s for New Yorkers to see. But what I can tell you, over anything, is I’m focused on turning this fantastic state “
Giuliani’s effort comes as some Trump allies have rallied their support New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, who declared his gubernatorial bid last month.
Even though New York is a blue state at which Cuomo won reelection to another term in 2018 by a huge 23-point margin, the governor has fallen under extreme scrutiny, as 10 women have lodged allegations of sexual harassment against him, leading to an independent investigation by the state attorney general into the claims and also an impeachment investigation in the State Assembly.
Cuomo continues to be politically wounded by the nursing home crisis, facing criticism following revelations that his government hid the complete degree of nursing home-related deaths during the COVID-19 pandemic.
