Aluminum is an extensively used metal in the world’s car manufacturers, but the production of it requires a lot of energy, and at Audi they have tried to meet the challenge by turning up for the recycling of aluminum.

It informs the Audi Denmark in a press release.

this is Why several of the models with the four rings in the front equipped with genbrugsaluminium, which is used on the brand’s presseværker in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm.

Models count the Audi A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8, and also to parts of the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback is used genbrugsaluminium. Other factories will follow, informs the Audi.

– Effective and modest use of resources are just as important to us as reducing our CO₂ emissions, says Marco Philippi, head of procurement strategy.

– Power supply for re-use of secondary aluminium is up to 95 percent lower than for the production of primary aluminum, he says.

Audi has introduced the aluminiumkredsløbet at the Neckarsulm factory back in 2017.

Aluminiumarkets cut-offs that come from presseværkerne, to be sent directly back to the supplier. The supplier reusing these in new aluminiumark of the same quality as the Audi then uses in the production. Audi in Neckarsulm are running this aluminiumkredsløb with the two suppliers, which increases the amount of aluminum administered in the closed-loop system.

Audi reports that the method reduced CO2 emissions by a total of 350,000 tonnes of CO2.

Genbrugsaluminium currently in use in different body parts of the Audi A3, A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8, and also in parts of the Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback.
