With life in the premier League as well as secured after Sunday’s final round in the base game goes AC Horsens to Wednesday’s pokalsemifinale against the Border, with the possibility of a large bonus in an otherwise turbulent season.

Without the last five years of winners in the form of FC Midtjylland, FC Copenhagen and Brondby in the semi-finals has paved the way for a triumph and a european ticket for the four remaining teams.

But it is not the chance of european participation, that draws most of the Horsens head coach Bo Henriksen.

– It means very little. Former team, which has been out in Europe, have had limited success, if it has not been the FCK, Midtjylland or Brøndby, which could have major troupes.

– It is not the goal as such. The goal is to try to experience a cup final. We come to Europe, it is just a plus. But it is not an objective in any way, he says.

Bo Henriksen has never been in a pokalsemifinale. Neither as a player or coach. For him and the club, the experience is extra-large.

We are looking forward like little kids on christmas eve. It is some of those great matches, you rarely are allowed to play.

– It will be the second time in AC Horsens’ history, that one comes in a cup final. It will be big, big for this football club. Therefore, we must live with it and have it fat, says Horsens-coach.

After the wins of FCK, FC Midtjylland and Brøndby reached Horsens in remarkable manner, up to the number-eight spot in the final round of the base game.

Thus could the club take their place in the nedrykningsspillets pool 2, which before the six group stage matches, 11 points down to Dundee in third place and 16 to Esbjerg in fourth place.

The solid lead in the premier League not, however, the great importance of pokalpræstationen, believes Henriksen.

– I do not think it had been different, if we had been a second place in the league.

– It goes fast in football. We are never better than our last fight, and we know what we must do what we are good at, and what we can. It requires a lot of energy, he says.

Horsens meetings Jutland at 18 o’clock. At 20.45 meet AaB and AGF in the second semi-final. The finals are played 1. July at the Blue Water Arena in Esbjerg.
