The violence of the historical crisis in which has plunged the aviation, in the wake of the collapse of air traffic because of Covid-19, continues to be read in the monthly performances of Airbus. The european giant has announced to have secured no new order in may 2020. It is worse than in April, marked by the signing of two new contracts. In five months, Airbus totals 299 net orders.
On the other hand, the manufacturer has not regretted any cancellation in may, like in April. Since the beginning of the year, cancellations accounted for 66 aircraft, concentrated on the first quarter of 2020. In addition, its backlog remains very solid with 7 621 devices to produce in the years to come.
On the industrial land, the situation is difficult. Airbus has built and delivered 24 devices (18 A 320neo, 2 A, 220 and 4 at 350). This is ten more than in April but compared to may 2019 and its 81 deliveries, the recoil is brutal. In five months, the aircraft manufacturer, has delivered 259 aircraft to its customers, compared with 313 in the same period a year earlier.

The significant decline in shipments suggests a strong decline in sales (and profitability) of Airbus commercial aircraft in the second quarter of 2020. Indeed, it is during the delivery that the companies pay between 70 and 80% of the price of aircraft ordered years ago.
in Order to adapt to the new market conditions, Guillaume Faury, chief executive officer of Airbus, has pledged a reduction of a third of the production. This whereas before the crisis the Covid-19, the manufacturer was engaged in a ramp-up. Airbus is taken to the reverse, bringing in its wake its sub-contractors who bear the brunt of this sharp decrease in load.
While the crisis in air traffic is part to last between three and five years, according to estimates from Airbus and Boeing, the public authorities have worked on a plan to support the aerospace industry. Its various components must be revealed early next week.
