The HAGUE – The international criminal Court (Icc) gave green light to the continuation of the investigation of war crimes committed in the conflict in Afghanistan. “The prosecutor’s office is authorized to begin an inquiry into alleged crimes committed in Afghanistan since 1 may 2003”, announced the judge Piotr Hofmanski.

With this free way, the judges in the Hague have overturned a previous decision that blocked the investigation: in 2017 the chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda had asked for to expand the survey, taking into consideration not only the actions of the taliban and the forces of the Kabul government, but also the foreign troops, the Us military and members of the Cia, but then the judges had determined that it would not have served “the interests of justice”.

Washington, however, as Moscow and Beijing, has not ratified the convention of the Icc and does not recognize the authority. Thus, in the case of any convictions of american soldiers, they will not be certainly extradited to the prisons of the Dutch city.
