Thousands of people gathered in front of the government building, broke through the police barriers and threw paint on the facade. They made their way toward the parliament building and fired of fireworks and smoke bombs. They were met by a large polisuppbåd.
”Rama go”, “corrupt government” and “forms of parliament,” were some of the slogans that the demonstrators shouted.
Edi Rama, who has been at his post since 2013, has been going on for two months. Politicians from both the right and left have accused the government of electoral fraud in the elections in June 2017.
The conservative Democratic party leader Lulzim Basha spoke to the crowd and demanded that new elections be held and that the country must be led by a transitional government.
