How do you explain that, on the one hand, it is appropriate to impose the Danish football clubs with fines because their fans in the stadium jeer gay people, while, on the other hand, is completely o.k. to participate in the WORLD cup in a country where homosexuals are persecuted and risk death?

the Danish Ball game Union, tried Friday to explain his position on Twitter, and it has now sent the union durk into a shitstorm of scorn and ridicule.

’Many ask to homophobia and the WORLD cup in Qatar. Takes DBU of the place? DBU’s position is clear: We are not threatening to stay home. We threaten to meet up and share our values: Diversity, openness and human rights,’ said the DBU’s tweet.

It was in the course of a day dozens of Twitter users to the keys and the charges of double standards is surging forward. ’Just Drop ’the threat’ and stay at home. Put action behind your antihomofobi-line,’ wrote one user.

’you are a joke, nothing less,’ wrote another, while a third sought information on the framework of the DBU’s campaign for the Danish values in the extremely conservative Qatar:

’When and where in Qatar will tell you about your values? Will convene a press conference in connection with the workout or prior to a match? Should the players go on the field in LGBTQ-colored sleeves? What would you specifically say about your attitude while you are in Qatar?’

the DBU has not answered the latest question on Twitter, why the Extra Magazine has presented some of them for the DBU’s head of communications, Jacob Høyer.

– We could then choose to answer 10, 20 or 30 comments, but we choose to put us up the position, we have indicated in our tweet, ” says Høyer.

– By meeting up, rather than be away, we believe that we can help to create change when it comes to human rights and labour rights in Qatar.

Høyer recalls that the DBU has been in Qatar for two laps, and that the union once again will visit in the ørkenstaten as a prelude to the WORLD cup 2020.

most Recently, representatives of DBU in Qatar in January. The two journeys are made together with the other nordic football associations, as well as trade unions and Amnesty International, as the global struggle for human rights.

– We are helping to put pressure on the authorities down there, and the international workers ‘ movement has let us understand, that it makes a difference, says Jakob Høyer.

– It makes a difference when we come together from the North and shows what is important to us.

– We do not think that it changes anything in Qatar that we are away. We believe that it makes a difference, that we come down with our values, which we adhere to, says Jakob Høyer, and stresses that DBU does not want to buckle the players for a political wagon.

– Quite basic, we do not believe that the sport should boycott something, which the Danish government do not boycott. We must not drive foreign policy. It we leave to the government and Parliament, says Høyer.
