Belgian football, Anderlecht, the day after a quasi-historical thuisnederlaag against Club Brugge. The atmosphere was… ok. “I saw the smiles on the training – mentally, it’s good”, says coach Rutten with a smile. But against Antwerp is the bitter severity.

0 to 6 in the first two days of the play-offs. For the first time in 21 years on their own field, lost to the Club. A fifth place. It does not go well with purple and white. So it will be this weekend with the knife between the teeth at Antwerp – a direct competitor for the Europa League. Later, Anderlecht doesn’t have to aim.

“But we’re always in that mode,” said coach Fred Rutten with an affable look. “A few months ago moésten we win, or we wouldn’t be in play-off 1 get. In the beginning of the play-offs moésten we win, or we would have a problem to know to be a champion. Now must we win. That belongs to this club. The approach is not changed. Anderlecht should always win.”
