“Joanna’s son, were stabbed by another student in the school,”
“”district Court, portraying the offender as the victim””
“Joanna Lissels 16-year-old son, Frederick, was stabbed at school by another student.”
“the Prosecutor insisted on a trial for murder, but the boy was convicted of aggravated assault and sentence became the youth care and youth service.”
“Joanna Lissel, who think that the penalty was too low, think that violence in schools has gone way too far.”
“– We need to bring more adults to get involved. Why have a 15-year-old knife with in the school? she says.”
“It was on January 9 as Fredrik Lissel, 16, was attacked on the International English school in Tyresö, where he is studying. A 15-year-old armed with a knife attacked him from behind.”
“Fredrik Lissel was carved in the leg and in the face. Another student who tried to avert the quarrel, and the go-between also met by a stab. Fredrik managed to escape from the scene and locked himself in a toilet and a 15-year-old was arrested by the police.”
“”restoration””
“For a little over a week ago the verdict was handed down and the 15-year-old, who admitted the offence, was sentenced for aggravated assault to youth care and the youth service. The prosecutor had claimed attempted murder, but a 15-year-old was acquitted of the charge despite the fact that he, according to several witnesses, said that he wanted to kill Frederick.”
“My son did not get the redress he should have received,” says Joanna Lissel who are disappointed in the verdict.”
“– When I read the judgment I perceive it as that we have got it right, but still be convicted for attempt to murder.”
“Several other cases of violence in school”
“Joanna Lissel has a background as a teacher and after her son was mistreated at school she has thought of several other cases of violence in Swedish schools. Last year murdered a boy at a secondary school in Enskede, and there are several other cases of serious violence in schools.”
” When will our young people take their consequences for what they do. Are we so naive as to believe that a 15-year old does not know what it means to stab someone with a knife? she asks and answers himself on the issue:”
” I think he knows exactly what it means.”
“”Need to bring more adult””
“Joana Lissel calls for both a strengthening of the legislation and that the more adults engage in the issue.”
” I do not mean that we should put children in jail and throw away the key, but it needs to be taken more seriously. It should discourage, ” she says, and continues:”
“– We need to bring more adults to get involved. Why have a 15-year-old knife with in the school? Something is wrong when children have guns and weapons to school. More people need to get involved. Our children must feel safe in the school.”
“Unclear whether the verdict will be appealed”
“It is currently unclear whether the verdict against Fredrik Lissels attacker will be appealed.”
” I hope so. I can stand a trial, ” says Fredrik Lissel.”
“How did it feel in the court?”
“– To hell. I was close to breaking in the hop several times, mainly because of all the lies.”
“Have you talked with the guy who stabbed you after the verdict?”
“– He wrote to me, but I didn’t answer. It was a very poor excuse.”
