Film The film ‘Hellhole’ by Bas Devos has been invited for the Hong Kong International Film Festival (march 18-april 1), as part of the Young Cinema competition. That made the festival organiser recently known. ‘Hellhole’ was the beginning of February, in world premiere in the Panorama section of the Berlinale. On march 20 the film with us in the halls.

‘Hellhole’ follows three very different people in the months after the terrorist attacks in Brussels in march 2016. A Flemish doctor, whose son as straaljagerpiloot on a mission in the Middle East, is faced with his own loneliness. A young man of Algerian descent is by his brother asked to be a deceptively simple favor. And an Italian woman who for the European institutions, is losing slowly control under the pressures of her demanding life. The same question that the city seems to haunt, overshadows their lives: where do we go from here?

The recordings for ‘Hellhole’ took place in Brussels in the summer of 2017. For the cinematography did Bas Devos, like his debut, Violet, appeal to Nicolas Karakatsanis. The leading roles are played by Willy Thomas, Alba Rohrwacher, Hamsa Belarbi and Lubna azabal are. Dieter Diependaele did the editing and Boris independent director was responsible for the sound. The music is from James Leyland Kirby.
