There went a rush through the crowd as the singer Michael Falch Sunday evening, let the curtain go up to play encores for his acoustic solo concert at The Royal Theatre.
For behind the curtain was none other than his former bandmates from the defunct legendary rock band Wormwood that toppled Denmark in the’80s, but then went from each other.
Now the band found together again as liveorkester, and they are planning a tour next spring.
– In 2020, 40 years ago, we in Wormwood released our first album. There is something in it that calls on us, but it has not been synonymous with, it could also be for something, ” explains Michael Falch.
Mind to restore the Wormwood began when Michael Falch, Pete Repete, Dia Nielsen, Christian Arendt, and Peter’s Mother’s was for the Rolling Stones concert together in 2017.
– It is a band that always has been a center for our togetherness, it has been a part of our dna. At the concert we looked at each other and asked: “Are there more of us?” Michael Falch.
It proved a series of days in the rehearsal room, that was. But since the decision to go back together was taken, it was with a serious promise to each other.
– of Course, there is firstly a fear to go in and tinker with and destroy a reputation, so if we were to do it, then it should be a bit serious.
– Because we have become so much older, we run the risk of the sacrilege by committing to one or the other tam, gammelfar-esque version of the band, and it may simply just not happen, says Michael Falch.
– Therefore we need to be in very good shape all together. We should be in better shape than we were 24-year-olds. And we will, the promise of the singer.
The 62-year-old singer reveals that the band not only started to trim themselves musically. They also follow tough training schedules, and some even are starting to train with jægersoldater, and thus already have lost 15-20 pounds.
– There really is fire in the eyes of the us, but it it also requires. We can’t just be five old set of men, who put us up on the stage. We will be more than that, says Michael Falch.
Although he has had great success as a solo artist in recent years, and it has been something that has concluded in his considerations.
– That spoke against that it goes to me as well on your own. I have no use for it on the way. I have time in so very creative in my solo career. There is no reason to take back in time, when you feel that you are so much in the present.
But on the other hand, it is also a strength, for it is not a cry for help or something that is done in desperation. It comes out of a surplus and a desire for a new adventure with old blodsbrødre, while it is still possible, says the singer.
Wormwood has existed in several formations, but the band makes up in by a series of concerts next year, according to Michael Falch the version in both is the vildest and who came as far as around.
But the fans should not put your nose up for new music from the band. There will be talk about a recovery as liveorkester, who will play the songs, which in its time set the rock group on the world map.
– We might well have embarked on a new album and presented to us as a band that would like to bite spoons with the spirit of the times. But we’d just play our old songs again and not, as it were, mix the fly in the ointment. It is and must be pure nostalgia, but it must be nostalgia with the fire.
– We proud of us that we have something to say and a role to play in the present – in any case, we have chosen that we will not have it. We should not be pressured by fads and tidsstrømninger to anticipate us on the Fly-the sound, says Michael Falch.
He rejoices over finally being able to fulfill the promise to the fans, Wormwood gave in the’80s, where they ended every concert and also the very last – of the to sing the number “We will meet again”.
