In the power struggle in Venezuela, there is growing pressure on the controversial head of state Nicolás Maduro . US Vice-President Mike Pence called on Saturday, the whole of the EU, Maduro’s adversaries Juan Guaidó as the President of Venezuela to recognise.

Guaidó reaffirmed its commitment, on 23. February US aid to bring goods into the country, and mobilized for tens of thousands of volunteers. Maduro threatened to meanwhile, in order to send troops to the borders of the country.

In Venezuela for weeks in a fierce power struggle between Maduro and Guaidó, had declared at the end of January to the transitional President. The United States recognized him as one of the first countries. Meanwhile, there are already around 50 countries, including Germany, France and many other European countries. The EU as a Whole went this step, however. In particular, Italy and Greece are against Guaidós recognition.

Pence: “A tragedy,”

US Vice-President, Pence said at the Munich security conference, Maduro was “a dictator who has no right to the Power”. The operations in Venezuela were a “tragedy that deserves a response and expected from all over the world”.

Therefore, the European Union should recognise “Guaidó as the only legitimate President of Venezuela”, demanded the Deputy US President Donald Trump.

In Venezuela Guaidó increased, meanwhile, the pressure on Maduro. He confirmed that on 23. February would be brought into the neighboring country of Colombia, delivered U.S. aid to the country – “come what may”. In the Colombian border town of Cúcuta several tons of food and medicines are already ready, two U.S. military aircraft delivered on Saturday dozens of tons of humanitarian aid.

Guaidó implored the behind Maduro standing army via Twitter again, in view of the acute supply crisis in Venezuela, the relief supplies on Saturday next week. On the same day, again the country-wide mass to move protests Maduro to give in.

For the distribution of relief goods to around 600’000 people were already register, how Guaidó said in front of around 4,000 volunteers. Serious supply crisis

In the country, a serious supply crisis for years, although it has the world’s largest Oil reserves. More than 2.3 million inhabitants fled from their homeland.

Maduro makes for the plight of the US sanctions responsible for and disclaims relief supplies, arguing that this served to camouflage the preparation of a US Invasion. On Friday, he said, the relief supplies were the case of a “explosive”. The United States hosted a “Show with rotten and contaminated food”.

At a Meeting with the military leadership, Maduro said, it must be examined “what are the new troops” would be necessary in order to make the 2200-kilometre-long border with Colombia “invulnerable”. The United States and Colombia, he accused the planning of a “war”.
