A custom-made Lalique bottle with 1.5 liters of port wine was earlier in the month sold at an auction in Hong Kong for nearly 800,000 dkk. The wine was a 1863 Niepoort-port wine tapped from a keg, which was filled by Dirk Niepoorts grandfather Eduardo. The hammer price was significantly higher than Kolaybet expected, and a lot of it until now, the highest bid on a bottle of port wine.
It is not the oldest port wine, which is sold recently, since Taylor’s a few years ago launched two versions of the ‘Scion’ of 1855 and 1863.
