Freshly made double pole vault world champion, Swedish phenomenon Armand Duplantis won the Diamond League meeting in Zurich (Switzerland) on Thursday, but once again failed to bring the world record to 6.23 Mr. This is the third time that “Mondo” has unsuccessfully attacked 6.23m, one centimeter higher than his last world record, set in February. He had already tackled it at the Diamond League meeting in Stockholm in early July and in the world final in Budapest on Saturday.

Duplantis was nevertheless the only one to cross six meters, on his first try. He beat two Americans who had not qualified for the 2023 Worlds, Sam Kendricks (5.95m) and KC Lightfoot (5.85m). Recent fifth in the world final with a personal best raised to 5.90m, the Frenchman Thibaut Collet ranked fourth, with 5.85m passed on his second attempt. He then measured himself unsuccessfully at 5.95 m.
