Thailand goes to the polls in February
On 24 February 2019 held a general election in Thailand, announces the country’s electoral commission. At the same time promises the ruling military junta and with the January lifting of the ban on all forms of political activities.
the military Junta took power in a coup in 2014, after several months of street protests against the then folkvalde prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, and introduced a strict ban on political activities.
the Junta has repeatedly delayed the date of elections, but recently announced that the ban probably would soon be lifted. Many hope that the elections will be a path back to democracy for the country.
Already now predict experts how the election becomes a fight between, on the one hand, the folklige Shinawatra, with support from the countryside, and on the other hand, the military and royal establishment from Bangkok, which since the military coup established their own parties.
