Showbizz Exactly ten years ago died Bettie Page at the age of 85 at the consequences of a heart attack. The pin-up model caused a sensation in the ‘50s and is still the symbol of the sexual revolution and freedom for women. Yet she died alone and in poverty, because at the height of her fame disappeared back into anonymity.
On december 11, 2008, Mark Roesler, manager of Bettie, on its website announced that the former model died. She was at that time already three weeks in a hospital in Los Angeles with pneumonia. Just before she can go home if she got a heart attack. They ended up in a coma and never awoke again. A sad and lonely end for someone who once acted as well in the not-so-chaste fantasies of countless men.
Bettie Page was born on april 22 1923 in Nashville (Tennessee), and grew up as second oldest in a family of six children. She had not an easy childhood: at a very young age, she had to care for her brothers and sisters. When her parents divorced – Bettie was 10 years old – she came along with her two sisters a few years in an orphanage. Afterwards told Page that the girls all three sexually assaulted by their father.
