Mao’s Communists defeated the military of the Republic of China. But many Republicans do not want to be defeated and flee to the mainland Chinese offshore island of Taiwan.

De facto it since then, so for nearly 70 years, two Chinas: the Communist people’s Republic of China and the Republic of China, which is officially called, but is internationally known under the name of the island is Taiwan.
