Jasper De Buyst, himself a professional cyclist at Lotto-Soudal, calls on supporters to sporting and respectful behavior during cycling races. He saw Sunday in Gent is a sad phenomenon of our voetbalreeksen blow over to the sport: parents with each other on the fist.

“Today at the Belgian championship for the youth to go and have a look. Distressing to see that supporters/parents come to blows on an (youth)bicycle race for the eyes of 15-16-17 year-olds. Be sporty and be respectful!” tweette Jasper De Buyst (25) Sunday night. The cyclist was going to look at the pistewedstrijd for the youth. “There was bitsig gekoerst, such as often, but nothing happened out of the ordinary,” he says in het Nieuwsblad. But apparently there was still fight in the stands between parents and supporters. “First, there was a shouting, then came to pushing, pulling, and even strokes are awarded. Young drivers 16 and 17 years old) had to intervene.”

The Ed muses about his own time as baanwielrenner, when the atmosphere was pleasant. He can understand that puberende riders already agree with each other on the stick, but for the unsportsmanlike and violent behavior of the parents, he has no understanding. He wants the case to say that not to blow up, but tweet about it because he was “severely shocked”. He decides in The Newspaper: “Such problems are already large enough within the football, let that please from the cycling to continue. Something like this should not be at home.”
