The accountant and a representative, the only two employees of Matco that at a quarter to six, still in the company were present, were terrified out of his wits when suddenly the fire alarm went off. “They are immediately going to look in the warehouse and saw approximately in the middle of a large flame,” says Francis Vanbiervliet, the manager of the company in Waregem. “Both of them have immediately left the company. How the flame originated, we know not. This may not be the result of one or other manipulation. At that moment there was already an hour no one in the warehouse.
