Italy has proposed in the budget dispute, with the EU lowering its deficit to 2.04 percent in the coming year. The government had obtained “some financial resources,” said the head of government, Giuseppe Conte on Wednesday after a Meeting with EU Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels. These resources would now be used for the negotiations with the Commission.
since June, the incumbent government from the populist Five-star movement and the xenophobic Northern League party had originally planned a deficit of 2.4 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) in the budget in 2019. The new debt would have been three times as high as that of the previous government to Brussels, I promise. The EU Commission had prepared in November, therefore, an excessive deficit procedure. It could lead to billion-dollar fines for Rome, or the deletion of EU aid.
