Frenchman Isack Hadjar (Campos Racing) won his second race of the season in Formula 2 on Sunday in Emilia-Romagna, during the main race on the Italian circuit of Imola, scene of the 4th round of the season.

Third on the grid on Sunday, the driver of the Red Bull youth sector was ahead of the Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto (Invicta) and the Paraguayan Joshua Durksen (Aix Racing).

This victory comes the day after his disillusionment in the sprint race – shorter than the main race – where he had to retire from the first laps due to an accident.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished 4th for his first season in the antechamber of F1. The Italian, protected by Mercedes, is one of the names mentioned to replace British star Lewis Hamilton, expected at Ferrari in 2025, in the ranks of the German team.

Thanks to this victory, Hadjar (59 points) moved up to third place in the championship and is now hot on the heels of Estonian Paul Aron (Hitech), second overall with 63 points.

Barbadian leader Zane Maloney (Rodin Motorpsort, 68 pts), only 11th on Sunday, is only five points ahead of Aron and nine ahead of Hadjar.

During the last round, in Australia, the 19-year-old Frenchman had already won the main race. He also won the sprint at this third meeting of the season but fell back to 6th place after a penalty due to a collision.

The other Frenchman entered in F2, Victor Martins (Art GP), finished ninth after starting from a distant 22nd place.

The F2 championship continues from May 23 to 26 in Monaco, the 5th round of the 14 this season.
