The captain of the French rugby team Antoine Dupont will be one of the Olympic flame torchbearers on Friday in Toulouse, the Games Organizing Committee (Cojo) announced on Tuesday.

“Antoine Dupont, French international from the Toulouse stadium and elected best player in the World Rugby world in 2021, will also carry the Olympic Flame on Friday May 17 on stage 9 Haute-Garonne-Toulouse,” indicates the Cojo in a press release.

Friday evening, the flame will stop at the Ernest-Wallon stadium, the home of Stade Toulousain, reigning French champions. The name of the last torchbearer, who will have the honor of lighting the cauldron for the evening, has not yet been disclosed but we know that other big names in rugby will participate in the relay: Vincent Clerc, Maxime Médard, Emile and Romain Ntamack

The flame arrived in Marseille on Wednesday and will pass through the hands of 10,000 “scouts” in 400 cities in France, to end its journey in Paris and set the cauldron ablaze during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the 26th. July.
