American Kate Douglass retained her 200m medley title on Monday at the World Swimming Championships in Doha, where Charlotte Bonnet took seventh place.

Starting off very quickly, Douglass won in 2 min 07 sec 05, less than a second from the world record. She beat the Canadian Sydney Pickrem (2 min 08 sec 56) and the Chinese Yu Yiting (2 min 09 sec 01), already in bronze last year at the Fukuoka Worlds.

The only Frenchwoman competing on this second day of competition, Charlotte Bonnet took seventh place in 2 min 11 sec 23.
