The situation is getting worse for the president of the Spanish Football Federation Luis Rubiales. Amid a scandal where he forcibly kissed player Jenni Hermoso while celebrating the World Cup victory, Rubiales now faces serious charges.
Boss of the Spanish players’ union (AFE) between 2010 and 2018, Rubiales would have behaved inappropriately against one of his former employees. The latter, Tamara Ramos, decided to give an interview to the Spanish television channel Telecinco. She says there that she is not “at all surprised by what is happening” vis-à-vis her former boss.
“In front of everyone, he said to me, with his sarcasm, ‘Come on, you came here to get on your knees.’ These are words no one deserves, let alone a professional who came here to work. He said, “What color are your underwear today?” Do you feel so… Being a woman in the world of football, there are so few of us. It’s hard to keep up. When I attacked him, I had two babies. I had terrible times and I had a hard time doing it. I sued for termination of contract. He told me that if I left, he wouldn’t even give me unemployment benefits. The departure of Rubiales from the Spanish Federation has been requested by several personalities of Hispanic football.
