Another difficult weekend on the roads of France awaits vacationers. And no day will be spared. From Friday August 18 to Monday August 21, the roads of France are classified either “orange” or “red” by Bison Futé in the direction of returns. In the direction of departures, only one day classified as “orange” is to be reported for Saturday, the other days being classified as “green”.
For this weekend, “we can observe that returns to the north take precedence over departures to coastal regions. The majority of traffic flows are therefore from the south of the country to the north,” says Bison Futé. Last weekend had already been complicated on the roads of France, the cumulative traffic jams having reached more than 1,100 kilometers on Saturday at midday.
In detail, this Friday, the traffic will be “very dense” in the direction of returns, provides Bison Futé. “Orange” at the national level, it is classified “red” in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and on the Mediterranean arc. The A6 and A10 motorways in particular will be very busy between mid-afternoon and late evening.
On Saturday, the whole of France is “orange” in the direction of departures and “red” in the direction of returns. Regarding the direction of departures, the A7, A9 and A61 motorways are expected to be particularly jammed. “In Île-de-France, traffic will be heavy from the start of the morning towards the toll gates of the A10 and A6 motorways,” adds Bison Futé. In the direction of returns, the axes most impacted will be the A7, A9 and A10 motorways, as well as the national N165, anticipates the road information service.
For Sunday, the traffic is classified “orange” at the national level and “red” in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Motorists should expect heavy traffic from the start of the afternoon towards Île-de-France. Bison Futé anticipates significant difficulties on the A6 and A10 motorways, as well as on the A7, A9 and A10 motorways.
Finally, Monday is “orange” nationally in the sense of returns. “It will be very difficult to travel on the A10 motorway throughout the afternoon”, indicates in particular Bison Futé, who also foresees traffic difficulties in Île-de-France, from the middle of the afternoon. midday until early evening, due to the addition of home-work journeys to holiday returns.
