Lyon easily won 7-0 on Thursday at the Austrian club Sankt Pölten in a match on the 5th and penultimate day of the group stage of the Women’s Champions League (Gr.B).

The Lyonnaises are guaranteed to qualify for the quarter-finals while their opponents occupy last place in the standings and are eliminated. These proved to be much inferior to OL, undefeated this season in all competitions, who did not have to endure any shots from the Austrians compared to 43 for Lyon (78 attacks to 3, 13 corners to 0).

Ada Hegerberg scored twice for her team’s first and third goals (21, 36) while Sarah Däbritz scored the second (22). In the second half, Lyon was effective from a set point. Vanessa Gilles scored following a corner played by Selma Bacha (55) as did Dzsenifer Marozsan (79). Entering at the end of the match, Kadidiatou Diani scored the sixth goal by taking a cross from Amel Majri (83) before Dabritz scored the seventh with a shot into the top corner (87).

Vanessa Gilles and Eugénie Le Sommer also shot at the uprights (29, 60). OL must still host Slavia Prague on January 31 at Groupama stadium, a Czech club that the Lyonnaises beat 9-0.
