The C8 channel, owned by the Bolloré group, was fined 50,000 euros after insulting remarks made towards one of Johnny and Laeticia Hallyday’s daughters, a 14-year-old teenager, on Cyril Hanouna’s set. The sequence, dated January 30, 2023, is “likely to infringe the rights of the young girl, respect for her honor and her reputation”, according to the decision of the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication ( Arcom), published in the Official Journal on Tuesday.
That day, videos of Joy Hallyday, then aged 14, were commented on “Touche pas à mon poste”, Cyril Hanouna’s show. “Several videos of the young girl were broadcast in close-up and for a significant period of time, and one of the show’s columnists notably declared about her: For me, it is the height of vulgarity, So for For me, it’s hypervulgar, with his tongue, his mouth, his tits,” notes the decision. “His behavior on the video is described in these terms: Because this is the new generation, do we have the right to be te-pu?”, continues the court, describing these remarks as “particularly violent, rude and derogatory”.
Arcom also notes that Cyril Hanouna, aware that it was a teenager, had refrained from “explicitly condemning the comments” made on his set: “I think you are going a little far. We remind you (that she) is a minor so take it easy anyway,” he simply declared. The TPMP show has earned C8 a barrage of warnings and sanctions from Arcom in recent years, for a total of 7.5 million euros.
The authority also imposed another fine of 50,000 euros after a sequence in September 2022 on CNews, another Bolloré channel, concerning insecurity. The authority noted a breach of the obligations of “honesty and rigor in the presentation and processing of information, as well as the obligation to express different points of view on controversial issues”, according to this decision also published Tuesday.
