Juve, without Federico Chiesa, injured again in one knee, nor Adrien Rabiot, spared, had to wait until the second half to get the better of a valiant Lecce team.

Returning from the locker room after a balanced first period, without any real scoring opportunity, Vlahovic made the Lecce supporters shudder for the first time in the 52nd minute. On a cross from Filip Kostic extended by Andrea Cambiaso, the Serbian striker, although alone in front of the goal, crossed his header too far. Six minutes later, he did not miss his spiked ball, much more complicated to adjust, which found the top corner of Wladimiro Falcone, for the opener.

For his second goal of the evening, his fifth in the last three championship matches, Vlahovic extended with the tip of his foot a header from Weston McKennie which was entering the Lecce goal anyway (68th). Bremer added a third goal, heading a free kick at the end of the match (85th).

Thanks to this fifth consecutive victory, Juve is the new leader of Serie A with one point ahead of Inter, in Saudi Arabia this week for the Italian Super Cup, the Milanese of which play the final on Monday against Naples. Inter will have to wait until February 28 to play their late Matchday 21 match against Atalanta Bergamo.

But until then, the Milanese will have the opportunity to get back into the lead, since they will host Juventus on February 4 for what could be the “final” of the 2023-24 season between the two teams which dominate the championship. They each conceded only one defeat and dropped AC Milan, 3rd with six points behind Inter, seven behind Juve.
