Warning strikes by workers affected the programming of several public broadcasters on Wednesday. Unions had called for the walkouts to put pressure on the ongoing wage negotiations. These are not the first warning strikes in the conflict.

The effects were different: In the ARD TV joint program Das Erste, viewers saw a best-of episode in the morning instead of a live edition of the program “Live nach Neun” produced by West German Broadcasting (WDR). In the largest ARD broadcaster WDR there were also changes in the radio news, as the broadcaster announced. During the night, WDR5 took over the news from NDR Info of the North German Broadcasting Corporation (NDR), WDR2 and 1LIVE broadcast the SWR news from the ARD pop night.

In the radio programs of BR24 of Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) and Deutschlandfunk of Deutschlandradio, the warning strikes in their own houses were discussed. In radio programs, BR expected individual broadcast failures on BR-Klassik and Bayern 2 and a limited range of news on BR24 Radio and music programs without moderation on BR Schlager.
