The English club Everton, sanctioned with a withdrawal of two points in the standings for non-compliance with the financial rules of the Premier League, announced Friday that it was withdrawing its appeal.

“Everton FC has withdrawn its appeal against the decision of an independent Premier League committee to impose a two-point deduction on the club, for a breach of profitability and sustainability rules for the accounting period ending June 2023” , the club said in a press release.

“The hearing, scheduled for the end of the month, will not take place and the club will conclude the 2023-2024 Premier League season with the deduction of two points,” he added.

The second club from the city of Liverpool currently occupies 15th place in the championship with 37 points. They are 8 lengths ahead of Nottingham Forest, 17th and first relegated two days before the end of the championship, which ensures their survival.

The “Toffees” received a two-point deduction in April for a violation of financial rules regarding the three-year period ending in 2022-2023.

Everton revealed a loss of 89.1 million pounds (103.8 million EUR) for last season alone, double the previous year.

Under current Premier League rules, clubs can lose a maximum of 105 million pounds (122.4 million EUR) over a period of three seasons, or 35 million per season, before being subject to sanctions.

Everton had already been sanctioned for the period until 2021-2022. This withdrawal of ten points, announced in November, was then reduced to six on appeal in February.
