The Danish app Smittestop’ has been downloaded 245,000 times the first day.
It informs the ministry of Health in an email.
the App, which should help to track down the infection with the corona virus, was launched by health minister Magnus Heunicke (S) on Thursday.
And until Thursday at midnight has 245.000 danes therefore decided to download the app on their phones.
With the app, users can give the message to other users of the app, which has been close to, if you are tested positive with the new coronavirus.
the App can in this way give the message to people who you do not know. Then they can be tested.
the App uses technology from Apple and Google, which has been developed with a special focus on privacy.
It is unknown exactly how large a proportion of the population who must download the app before it can have an effective effect.
A study from Oxford University estimated in april that you would be able to stop the epidemic in a society, where about 60 percent of a population uses an app to smitteopsporing.
But it does not mean that such an app may not have a beneficial effect, if fewer people use the app, it highlights.
– Lower numbers will also have a positive effect, is the conclusion of the study.
health Minister Magnus Heunicke welcomes almost a quarter of a million already on the first day of downloading the Danish app.
– It is actually a national record as the most downloaded government app in the first day, said the minister in an email response.
The previous record was, according to the ministry of Health nøglekortsappen for NemID, which got 204.000 downloads the first day.
the minister of health hope, however, that even more danes of the future will take ‘Smittestop’app in use.
– The more people that download the app, the more effective a weapon we get to break the hidden smittekæder as part of our overall effort to control the Covid-19 the epidemic, says Magnus Heunicke.
