In six hospitals spread across the country has Cliniclowns Belgium today, his 25th birthday is celebrated by a one-time, not only children, but all ziekenhuisbezoekers in their room to bring uplifting entertainment and fun gadgets. The cliniclowns want to so the people who thank to their operation all these years made possible, because the organization can only exist thanks to donations.
It is day on day 25 years ago, the first Belgian cliniclowns started in the former Antwerp-based hospitals Good English and UZZAH.

Where the clowns initially only focused on hospitals, the effect is, however, much wider. “We now have 30 clowns that are active in hospitals, but other healthcare facilities such as institutions for children with disabilities, brandweerwondenafdelingen and departments of child psychiatry,” says Valérie Van Gastel of Cliniclowns Belgium. “And we even have a webcamproject where children can sign in for the clowns to come into contact.”
Cliniclowns Belgium does not work with voluntary clowns, but with professionals. However, the organization gets no subsidies. “We can do this thanks to the people who support us and so we want them today in the flowers”, says Van Gastel.
