Endesa gave a fire truck, furniture, and equipment that was part of the Litoral thermal power station, which is currently being dismantled, to the Levante Almeria Firefighting and Rescue Consortium on Friday. The assignment signifies that the electricity company has ratified its commitment to the principles and practices of the circular economy. It gives the elements a new purpose.

Miguel Asun, Endesa’s Decarbonization Manager, Margarita Perales and Pilar Delicado were responsible for the donation. Six firefighters from Levante received the material from Endesa, thanking Endesa for their donation. Francisco Flores, chief officer of Levante Almeriense Firefighting and Rescue Consortium, said that the material was also given to Margarita Perales, responsible for Sustainability at Endesa in the area.

Pilar Delicado, for her part, highlighted Endesa’s commitment towards the province, to this area in which we have always existed and where we are currently working to build a new project. This second life of this plant, which will continue its service in Almeria is an example the circularity we are using in our decarbonisation.

This is the occasion when Endesa will be transferred to the three parks in the Levante Almeriense Consortium, Turre, Huercal Overa, and Albox. These parks provide firefighting and rescue coverage for 48 municipalities within the province. They will be able improve their services by having more resources available.

A 4-axle Pegaso Rosenbauer fire truck, weighing 14,000 liters and containing 1,500 liters foam is among the donated material. The equipment, which includes hoses and foam lances, fire extinguishers as well as a generator or pump, was delivered in addition to the vehicle.

Chemical protection suits, smoke liquid bottles, and a high-expansion foam engine have also been donated. These will all be useful in extinguishing flames. Furniture has been donated to the Consortium for storage of hazardous products. There is also a bank of changing rooms, 34 modules and two lockers. This will be used by firefighters who make up this body.

Endesa continues to apply circular economy principles and deepen its goal of sharing value with local communities, creating a social benefit.
