Through the departments of Transversal Policies for Social Action and Equal Opportunities, the City Council of Andujar has created a number of activities to mark the International LGTBi Pride Day. These activities will be held on June 28.

Josefa Jurado, the mayor, presented the program. It contemplates the distribution of a video explaining the meaning of different LGTBi words. This will be the object of general ignorance on part of the citizenry and will highlight the differences between gender identity and orientation.

The council also created a poster with each letter of the word LGTBi that promotes Andujar’s inclusive status. This is to show that all people are treated equally, regardless of their sexual orientation.

The institutional act will also be held next Sunday, June 28, at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of the Municipal House of Culture. It will include the reading of a manifesto, projection of the video made for that purpose and lighting the Town Hall facade with the colors of rainbow flag.

Jurado stated that the campaign’s goal was to reduce homophobic attitudes, behaviours and social prejudices. It also aims to make it visible to other groups to ensure that there is no discrimination against anyone, regardless of race, origin, gender, or sexual condition.

Andujar is a pioneer municipality in the creation of a Municipal LGTB Information Point. This is because the Government Team always felt obliged implement policies that guarantee equal rights for all citizens. He concluded that we will continue to work towards a more fair and inclusive society.
