The first Arab-European summit has been advertised to EU Council President Tusk for more cooperation, despite the difficult human rights situation in some Arab States. He urged to strengthen the civil society.
The European Union wants to strengthen at their first summit with the Arab League, the cooperation with the countries of the crisis-ridden Region. To Aufakt of the two-day meeting in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh, EU Council President Donald Tusk called on the participants, the problems jointly addressed. “We must do this together, and not allowed to leave the far-flung world powers,” said Tusk.
Tusk called on the host countries, in addition to openness and tolerance. “The Promoting of intercultural Dialogue, the Strengthening of a vibrant civil society, and the Prioritizing of education (…) can contribute to the creation of peaceful and stable societies less vulnerable to the messages of violent extremism,” said Tusk.
