Tervuren Belgian record holder speedskiën Joost Vandendries (47) escapes from death. During a world cup in Andorra he made a spectacular fall at a speed of 170 km/h. He ran nine fractions including a ruggenwervel, but next season, he wants to be there again. “Mentally I have to trust or regain it,” he said from his hospital bed.
Joost Vandendries in Overijse since march 25, the fastest Belgian on skis, then he 218,845 miles per hour and he stopped the previous 22-year-old Belgian record. In Andorra he defended his ninth place in the general wereldbekerstand. During the oefenafdalingen it went well, already knew Joost, however, that the slopes there bumpy annex.
