A thirteen-month-old girl died on Friday May 19 in her nursery located in Liège, Belgium, after choking on the cord of a blind, the Liège public prosecutor’s office announced to the Belga agency and was quoted by Le Soir.

According to information from Sudinfo, the baby died a few hours after being transferred to hospital. The spokeswoman for the Liège public prosecutor’s office, Catherine Collignon, also announced that “an investigation is underway” to determine the circumstances of the accident.

Sylvie Anzalone, spokesperson for the Birth and Childhood Office, told this Belgian media that the accident happened “shortly after the child was put to a nap”, and that “it was while hearing another child cry that the nursery nurse went to see and came across the accident”.
