For a little over a week ago, Stefan Löfven its reinvention, but for the Swedish people. The ideologically contradictory regeringsförklaringen was probably difficult for all parties involved, and it remains to be seen if the good kompromissandan keep the term out. One thing is for sure in all cases; the discussion can now once again be about political issues.
the settlement’s strength and legitimacy is the aggressive climate policy. The four parties have managed to agree on a broad climate – and environmental programs and issues are given more space than ever before.
It is far from enough to meet the impending climate cataclysm, but based on the prevailing parliamentary mode output is surprisingly good.
Among the proposals is a new line of high-speed trains between Stockholm and Gothenburg, the development of the northern rail network as well as the reintroduction of trains to Europe. Increasing re-appropriations to the environmental protection agency as M and KD significantly cut back in their budget and it is investigating a ban on new sales of fossildrivna cars by 2030.
also a proposal that received undeserved a lot of praise and that is quite alarming: the so-called green tax shift.
In the wording it says that ”increases in environmental taxes should be exchanged for a reduction in taxes on jobs and business” and that it should include 15 billion. Increases in environmental taxes in all its glory, but what exactly does a reduction in taxes on jobs and enterprise? In the same paragraph it says that the värnskatten, which is paid by those who serve the over 55, 000 dollars a month, to be taken away.
regressive taxation, where ordinary people subsidise the community’s rich in the form of, for example, increased gasoline tax and consumption tax. It is the same classic neoliberal climate policy, which has ignited a populist anger in France that seem impossible to appease.
Furthermore, it is important to think about what this tax relief will have on the results. A greatly improved economy for the society’s well-off will probably lead to an increased consumption of energy-intensive luxury goods which destroy the whole point of tax shift.
A green tax shift for me is more in line with the government’s bonus-malus system for new cars where the utsläppstunga vehicles are taxed and climate-friendly cars are rewarded. There are so many areas where these 15 billion, had been able to make a big difference. A greatly expanded aid for climate measures is one such example.
the tax shift is a result of a compromise between a party that’s really fighting for a green conversion and business-friendly parties like the Centre party as the only green in his rhetoric. But it took forward to seeing Isabella Lövin (MP) to speak about how ”exciting and historic” this tax reform, actually is.
the MP should drop this issue and allow this form of tax reform, stand for C and L. There is so much else good in the settlement that MP can be proud of.
