We end up with more poor older women

for more than 40 years, it has been determined by the law, to work of equal value must be remunerated equally. Yet employees in typical female professions are far lower wages than those in male jobs.

the gender pay gap between men and women is 13 percent, according to figures from Statistics Denmark. And it’s not just a now-and-here-the problem for the individual in kvindefagene, which have less economic room for manoeuvre.

– A second consequence is that the employees in the kvindefagene – mostly women – also worse off than men in relation to lifetime earnings and pension, minister Eva Kjer Hansen, previously said to Ekstra Bladet.

She will be backed up by Katja Iversen, who is the director of the global organization Women Deliver, who are fighting for women’s right to equality.

– in addition to kvindefagene are so low-valued, due to the difference in livsløn also, that it is still women who take maternity leave and go part-time to make ends meet – and thus their savings for retirement much less. We end up with more poor older women, she says.

the Extra Leaf put in the coming days focused on the lack of gender equality in the Danish labour market – both in terms of distortionary eects between male and female professions, but also the great differences which exist within individual professional groups.

today, tells two nurses about their everyday lives in a low-paid kvindebranche, where they get men, that is, put themselves in leadership positions and achieve the supplement that makes, they earn more in salary than their female counterparts.

Zero women have chaired in the ministry of finance. One woman has been the finance minister, one foreign minister, one prime minister, and also one minister of defence. It is well to notice in total since 1953, shows Extra the Magazine’s review of all ministers and ministries.

Close to the Nurses on low wages: She took maternity leave – he chose the career

– I believe it is the expression of, to the gentlemen, who are in power will not give it. I do not know whether it is deliberately or thoughtlessly, but no matter what, so it’s an expression of magttænkning that you think that only one sex can manage the heavy areas such as finance, tax and defence. It is so conservative in terms of gender, it does quite hurt, ” says Birgitte Possing, who is an anthropologist and professor emerita, and author of the book ‘Arguments against women’.

At the other end of the minister-spectrum, women have been over-represented in ‘soft’ ministries such as the ministry of social affairs (13 women, 10 men) and the ministry of health (7 women, 5 men), while no man has been minister for gender equality.

– We have formal equal rights in Denmark, and the brands we us. But it is a paradox, for we have not in reality. We have neither dissolved the gender-division of labour in the labour market (with the feminised and the male professions, ed.) or the hierarchical gender balance with the men at the top and women at the bottom. The live in the best of health, believe Birgitte Possing, which at the same time points out that the minister at the same time the fisheries minister, which illustrates where the power is, and how high – or low – it is on the political agenda.

She calls the division of men and women in the respectively. ‘heavy’ and ‘soft’ ministries ‘is an expression of the separation jernlov’.

The jernlov reads: ‘Where power is, women are not. Where women are, power is not.’

– another place where the separation jernlov come to expression is in the Church. It is actually one of the areas where there is full gender equality – despite the fact that the former was extremely conservative and where the priest and the episcopate was reserved for men. And how can it be? It is supposedly along with the fact that the church no longer has any power in society.

Birgitte Possing says that distortions in the political power between men and women is not only expressed in the ministries: – It happens also in the close, local democracy. We have 98 municipalities in Denmark. 84 of them have a male mayor. As if women don’t have the vision or talent to challenge a borgmesterpost. We know that they have. Photo: Ritzau Scanpix.

– But it is, after all, in the right direction – it is no longer the expectation that women stay at home.

– No, only if one is such a Joachim B. Olsen-type, ” she says, and laughs.

– There are still some who think that women can’t. They can be found. There are just not many who have the courage to say it out loud. But yes, it is quietly being moved. However, it is up to the individual senior woman to pave its own path.

– women that like will power, behave mandigt to get it?

– No, and it is precisely one of my points in my book. Women have very narrow paths to walk on, while men can behave very differently in the leadership role and at the same time filling it out. But either perceived to be women for kvindagtig, well-dressed, too erotic, or too mandhaftige.

Helle Thorning-Schmidt was rapidly stigmatized for its style, which is very female, ” says Birgitte Possing. Photo: Henning Hjorth.

– Try to look at Margrethe Vestager. It has taken her a long time to find its style, which is neither one or the other, while Helle Thorning-Schmidt, very quickly became stigmatized.

Margrethe Vestager is the example of a female toppolitiker, who have managed to find the right balance in its appearance in a magtverden with men: – She is neither for erotic female, or for mandhaftig. She is neither one or the other, says Possing. Photo: Ritzau Scanpix.

– How do we obtain then the equality?

– first, we move only if we recognize that we have a problem. For if we say that we have gender equality – and burns the os on it – then we get the never. We need to identify inequality before we can change it.

– the Next step is to dare to take the discussion about how we solve it. What policy actions should we do – ranging from shared maternity leave, on new forms to kvoteringer, to mentoring.

Ritt Bjerregaard: There are ALWAYS competent women

Close to Asger Aamund: Allowances will be death

– I don’t belong to those who have been discriminated against, but I can clearly see how women have to fight much harder than men in order to be in the central committee. In particular, the economy is something that needs to be worked hard for. You can also see in business and boards and in the banking sector managements, where women are highly outnumbered.

– Why?

– There is an expectation that it is probably not really something for women. But there are many women, who would like to. I can remember from my time in politics, that when there would be reduced range and available presidents, it was always me who had to sit and say: ‘Hey, why is it not a woman’? I had always written a list of competent women, when they came with their arguments that ‘we have really tried, but there is not some’. I could thus reject. There are ALWAYS some competent women.

– What is the solution. Quotas?

– I’m a big supporter of quotas. Since I had just been elected to the social democrats, had never had a woman in the finance committee, that it was absolutely the most important committee. It was in rødstrømpernes time, and it was getting embarrassing, so therefore, I was asked whether I would in the committee. I was newly elected, and they knew nothing about what I could, but I would obviously like. I have no doubt that I was kvoteret, because they had to have a woman. I had nothing against, for it gave me a platform and opportunity to show what I work for.
